Tottenham Manager Frank Calls Vicario Booers 'Not Real Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on the Manager

Spurs supporters who booed goalkeeper Vicario were told afterwards "those individuals can't be real Tottenham fans" by manager Frank.

Tottenham conceded two scores in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th top-flight home defeat of the year.

However the main talking point was Fulham's second goal when Vicario gave away possession far beyond his area.

He came out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball towards the touchline.

But, rather than booting it into touch, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

King passed the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the touchline measured at 36.6 metres.

Seconds afterwards when the ball came to the keeper again, some Spurs supporters booed him.

The team were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those jeering episodes truly irritated the manager.

"I heard some of our fans reportedly jeered the incident and booed following, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] cannot be true Spurs supporters that do that. Fair enough booing after the match, no problem, but when we are in play, we are supporting each other, we are with one another moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a early lead before Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second period showing.

Ex- top-flight keeper Joe Hart stated that the next goal was "totally preventable".

"I do appreciate the fans' disappointment," Hart added. "I know the part the keeper is playing. He is a excellent team player, he's a real leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the winning score."

'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match

Italy national team Vicario is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"That score was a mistake of my own, I accept accountability for it," he said.

"My aim was to clear the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult mountain to climb."

He stated being booed "is part of football".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "We can't be influenced by the situation in the crowd. The fans have the right to do what they think.

"It's on us to stay more composed, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and calmness to overturn outcomes. This match is a bad defeat and it's tough to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Goal Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was far from an simple score for Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – following Adams' forty-three point three yard goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally also occurred on the same day.

Wilson said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open net to aim for.

10 seconds elapsed between Vicario exiting of his area and Wilson shooting – which was five seconds after the clearance.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was out of the area for a long time," Wilson remarked.

"I was surprised not one of the back four returned to the goal line. When none of them defended the goal, my eyes lit up a bit.

"Udogie fell as well, which allowed me a bit of additional opportunity. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the correct contact and place it towards goal. I felt a good sense, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Work Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - the Manager

Although Vicario's error dominated headlines, this was an all-round poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home woes.

The match was their 10th home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint club statistic matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

They still have home games against the manager's old side Brentford and title holders Liverpool to play prior to the close of the season.

Just a single of those wins have come since Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"When you're behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to climb," said the boss.

"During in a poor run, everything appears to work against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have lost another match. Each fixture has a single story, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to keep working. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."

Tottenham have lost four consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the top division.

And they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the division – their lowest averages on record in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He must take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's accepted a prestigious job at a major team with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.

"The performances at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
