This Satirical Thriller
The filmmaker's unflinching critique tackles the tyranny of feminine aesthetics as well as the dreaded aspects of advancing years. Demi Moore delivers an inspired portrayal playing Elisabeth, an aging actress forced into hosting a fitness program on television. Edged out by her unscrupulous employer Harvey, played by Dennis Quaid, she turns to a mysterious and gruesome process titled the Substance. This creates a new version of herself named Sue, resulting in a steadily more vampiric relationship between them. October 17th, the streaming service Paramount+
The Woman in Cabin 10

Yet once a mysterious woman goes overboard one night and all passengers claims she was never there, the reporter's sleuthing skills kick in. Streaming currently, on Netflix
This Supernatural Story
The acclaimed director pushes his creative boundaries in this nifty supernatural story captured wholly from the viewpoint of a ghost. As a family with Lucy Liu as Rebekah and troubled teenage daughter Chloe occupies their recent residence, the camera – AKA the Presence – follows them around. Chloe seems aware of the supernatural presence, and the entity appears protective of her. But why? It's a fun idea that doesn't outstay its welcome, featuring a surprise that may be unexpected. October 11th, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, the Sky channel
Nicolas Cage's Meta Comedy
The iconic actor fully commits to his cult stardom through this self-referential adventure. He acts as an egotistical film star named Nicolas Cage who agrees to a lucrative offer to appear at a birthday party in Mallorca for the rich superfan Javi. Contacted by the intelligence agency to investigate the potential kingpin, the actor's “nouveau shamanic acting ability” comes in handy. Saturday 11 October, 9pm, on Channel 4
The Black Phone
Derrickson's claustrophobic thriller stands strong without requiring a sequel. Taking place in 1978 Denver, a series of disappearances has left the children frightened. After Finney gets captured by “the Grabber” and locked up in a basement, he fears the worst. But the non-functional line on the wall continues to ring, with eerie communicators providing assistance, while the intuitive nightmares from his sibling Gwen could save him. A genuinely scary movie. Saturday 11 October, nighttime, the Film4 channel
The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the struggle between faith and wealth, the victory is clear for materialism in Showalter's delightfully tacky film adaptation regarding the shamed TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. The actor acts as the corrupt Bakker, who states early on, “God does not want us to be poor,”. The couple commence profiting from the people's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, bad makeup and hypocrisy, yet the lead actress succeeds to show the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure. October 14th, early morning, Film4
The Spy Mystery
The current week's another release by the same director is a spy mystery as sharp similar to the collars worn by Fassbender's British agent. His assignment is with uncovering a double agent among the team out of five possibilities – one of whom is Kathryn, played by Cate Blanchett. Both actors are masters of deadpan cool, leading to a delightful psychological game of truth or lie unfolds. Additional actors participate the clever spy entertainment. Friday 17 October, various showings, Sky Cinema Premiere
