The Animation Studio's Upcoming Film Introduces James Cameron's Sci-Fi-Style Adventure featuring Nature's Engineers

The acclaimed animation studio has released the trailer for its upcoming animated feature, Hoppers, which showcases a premise that is both quirky and entertaining.

Plot Summary

Hoppers follows a young nature enthusiast named Mabel Tanaka (Piper Curda), a 19-year-old nature-lover who gains the power to understand wildlife after experimenting with a form of Avatar-like-inspired technology created by one of her university teachers.

“The conventional approaches to study animals just weren't working,” states one of the researchers that created the brain-transfer technology.

How The Invention Works

Dubbed “The Hoppers Device,” the technology essentially works akin to the neural link system featured in James Cameron's Avatar films, with one key difference: Rather than waking up as a giant navy-colored alien, the protagonist's mind is moved into a mechanical animal form. In particular, a synthetic beaver-body.

Adventure and Characters

Similar to Avatar protagonist Jake Sully, the heroine quickly finds herself getting in a bit too deep with the residents of the animal kingdom, accidentally causing an animal rebellion led by a regal butterfly (Meryl Streep) and the king of the beavers (Bobby Moynihan), who are resolved to “squish the human race.”

At one point, antagonist Mayor Jerry (Jon Hamm) is locked in his vehicle by a pair of beaver characters and a lizard, who then proceed to menace him through his cellphone's text-to-speech capability.

Premiere Information

Hoppers debuts in theaters on the sixth of March.
