Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
