Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest action-packed instalment that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for embracing action and madness with equal glee, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose projects have exemplified all of those things.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by having a different setting and ensemble in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant belief and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always delving into the core of humanity through this complex and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our mutual bold, daring sensibility to the audience.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
